The legal bit
Terms of use & disclaimer
Last updated: July 2026
PsiPi is a free, experimental tool that runs an AI-generated, referee-report-style critique of a preprint you supply, using a Google Gemini API key you supply. By using PsiPi you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the tool.
Not peer review, not advice
PsiPi is not a journal and does not perform peer review. Its reviewer and editor “personas” are large language models, not human experts, and its output is not an editorial decision, a credential, or a publication record of any kind. Nothing PsiPi produces is scientific, medical, legal, or professional advice, and using it has no bearing on how any real journal, funder, or institution will treat your work.
No warranty — provided “as is”
PsiPi is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. AI-generated reviews can be wrong, incomplete, biased, or entirely hallucinated. We do not warrant that the output is accurate, reliable, or suitable for any purpose, or that the tool will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the maintainers of PsiPi shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, reputation, opportunity, or research outcome, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) PsiPi or its output — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. You use PsiPi, and rely on its output, entirely at your own risk.
Your responsibilities
- Only submit preprints or material you are free to share with a third-party AI service — not confidential, embargoed, or sensitive unpublished work, and nothing whose disclosure would breach a duty you owe to anyone else.
- You are responsible for your own Gemini API key and any usage, cost, or terms attached to it. Your manuscript is sent directly from your browser to Google; Google's handling of it is governed by Google's own terms, not ours, and on free tiers your content may be used by Google to improve its models.
- You confirm you have the rights needed to submit the material you upload, and you will not use PsiPi for unlawful purposes.
- Treat every result as a starting point for revision to verify independently — never as validation that your work is correct, safe, or ready.
Examples & third-party content
The Examples pages show AI-generated commentary on real, publicly posted preprints, identified by title and a link to the source, offered as transformative critique for illustrative purposes. Author names are withheld and source abstracts are not reproduced. Titles, journal names, and other marks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the work referred to. If you are an author and would like an example removed, email us (below) and we will take it down.
Changes & governing law
We may update these terms at any time; continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
