Read this before you submit

Legal & safety notes

In short:

  • I understand this is not real peer review. It creates no publication record, and using it has no bearing on how any real journal will treat my manuscript.
  • For research-security reasons, I will only submit a preprint or material I'm comfortable sharing with a third-party AI service — not confidential or sensitive unpublished work.
  • I understand the AI-generated reviews may be wrong or hallucinated, and are not a substitute for real expert judgment.

What PsiPi is

PsiPi is an AI feedback tool for preprints in the natural sciences. It runs your manuscript past three AI reviewer personas and an AI editor persona and hands back a fast, referee-report-style read, so you can catch fixable problems before you submit your work somewhere that matters. The output is meant as a first pass to improve your paper, not as a final assessment of it.

Research security — preprints only

Only submit a preprint, or material you are otherwise comfortable sharing with a third-party AI service. Do not submit confidential or sensitive unpublished work: your manuscript text is sent directly from your browser to Google's Gemini API using your own key, and PsiPi has no control over what happens to it after that point.

AI output can be wrong

Every review, rubric score, and editorial synthesis on PsiPi is generated by a large language model. These can be wrong, incomplete, or hallucinated. Treat PsiPi's output as a fast first pass to catch obvious problems — not as a substitute for real expert judgment, and not as validation that your manuscript is correct or ready.

Your API key and your data

Your Gemini API key is used only to call Google's API directly from your browser. It is never sent to any PsiPi server — there is no PsiPi server.

There is no PsiPi server, no database, and no submission archive. Your session lives in your browser's memory and session storage for the duration of your visit; the only thing that persists is the decision-letter PDF you choose to download, which includes this disclaimer:

“This document was generated by PsiPi, an AI-assisted manuscript review tool. It is not a product of real peer review, was not issued by any journal, and creates no publication record. The reviews and editorial synthesis above were written by large language models and may contain errors, omissions, or hallucinated claims — treat them as a starting point for revision, not as an authoritative expert assessment.”

Scope

PsiPi's AI personas are instructed to flag clinical, public-health, or other safety-critical submissions, where a mistaken automated assessment could cause real-world harm if read as validated science.
